Abase.

A new word learned today. Meaning given as to lower in rank, prestige or esteem. What made this word come into my note?

Well, an interesting point surfaced in a local trial that has been going on since a little over a year ago. The deceased, found sprawled dead after being questioned by authorities until the wee hours in the morning, was said to have written a suicide note. That note was reportedly found in his bag at that time, but seemed the Investigating Officer couldn't recognise the importance of it, just because it was a note, written in Chinese and that the bag contained other more important documents.

Quote "Having considered these factors, the AG was of the view that the note should not be tendered until and unless the Investigation Officer could provide satisfactory explanation as to its discovery.

However, recently the Investigation Officer owned up by admitting that he did in fact find the note when he searched the sling bag on 17.7.09 but did not realise the significance of it as there were other documents found and that they were written in both Chinese and Roman characters.

As a result of this the Attorney-General decided to put the note in and directed the Investigation Officer to explain this in court to avoid any repercussion in future and let the Coroner decide on its weight after considering the explanation by the Investigation Officer and the Document Examiner’s report.

Therefore, there is no suppression or withholding of evidence and that the decision for not tendering it earlier was made based on the Document Examiner’s report as well as the discovery of the note which gave rise to suspicion"

Sounds really suspicious, don't you think? Well, I just cannot help but shake my head and let out a sigh. Another show of the m*d finger from public to our juridical system and the people that makes there, they are just waiting for it.

Just difficult to ignore the anger and disappointment rising from this case.

How low then, will they get? Makes you think, do they really believe that the public laps everything up, no questions asked? Berks?
